In September, Xiaomi is expected to unveil the Xiaomi 18 family, which will be the world’s first mobile devices built on the advanced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 flagship platform. Recently, a reputable insider at Digital Chat Station posted an update on Weibo, detailing the key parameters of the upcoming devices in this series.
According to the published data of DCS, Xiaomi developers are planning to release a relatively small top-of-the-line model within the new generation, with a screen size of approximately 6.4 inches.
The display will have an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, a significant radius of rounded corners, fully symmetrical and extremely thin bezels, and a flat design. In addition, the screen is credited with the ability to reproduce a picture with an actual 2K resolution, which will guarantee increased image clarity.
At the same time, the insider shared information that a special display technology is reserved for the more expensive Xiaomi 18 Pro, which will appear on the market for the first time. Along with the modernized matrix, the upcoming lineup will feature significant improvements in mobile photography, battery life, and general hardware components. Among the main technical improvements, the informant separately noted the integration of a system of two cameras with 200-megapixel sensors each, as well as the transition to advanced silicon-carbon batteries.
When subscribers in the comments started asking about the exact capacity of the battery, DCS gave a hint, noting that the digital value of the capacity would open with a seven. This directly indicates a capacity in the range of 7000 mAh. Although no specific milliampere-hours were announced, the leaker made it clear that the resource provided would be more than enough to meet the needs of the vast majority of owners. This battery will apparently be integrated into both the base version of Xiaomi 18 and the Pro version, which, according to preliminary information, will have identical front panel dimensions.
According to other sources, the role of the largest representative of the three will go to the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max smartphone, as it is expected to have a large 6.9-inch OLED screen with a 2K resolution. The performance of this model will be ensured by the boosted Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip, and the power supply will be provided by a colossal 8500 mAh battery.
Some reports indicate that the Xiaomi 18 Pro, along with the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max variant, will retain the design feature of its predecessors in the form of an auxiliary screen on the back of the case. At the same time, the functionality of this small display promises to be much more diverse compared to the previous incarnation.
Additionally, fresh insights from another informant, Smart Pikachu, indicate that the Chinese tech giant is currently experimenting with the introduction of an AI-based desktop interface for secondary screens. Such software solutions are planned to be implemented not only for the Xiaomi 18 Pro line but also for the external display of the brand’s next foldable smartphone, which is still known as Xiaomi 18 Fold.
