Artificial intelligence tools are gradually moving from simply providing answers to questions to performing practical tasks. ChatGPT, which has been updated with an expanded Scheduled Tasks system, is yet another example of this. Thanks to this update, the chatbot now allows users to set reminders, automate recurring requests, and even track specific topics to receive important updates.

The new feature is gradually rolling out to users and brings ChatGPT closer to the role of a personal assistant. Now the service can not only respond to requests in real time but also perform actions according to a schedule set by the user. For example, you can set a reminder to wish your parents a happy birthday or ask the chatbot to monitor the launch of a product and notify you when new information becomes available.

ChatGPT now has a dedicated control center for scheduled tasks. It’s accessible via the sidebar in both the web version of the service and the mobile apps. There, users can view existing tasks, make changes, temporarily pause them, or delete them entirely. Notifications play an important role in how this feature works. If a user plans to use ChatGPT for reminders, they must ensure that notifications are enabled on both their smartphone and in their browser.

One of the most interesting new features is the ability to ask ChatGPT to monitor certain changes and send notifications about them. For example, the service can monitor updates to your favorite app, track the status of an upcoming event, or notify you when important news about a selected topic becomes available.

However, the feature does have certain limitations. First, this feature is not available to users on the free plan. To access it, you need a subscription to one of ChatGPT’s plans. Second, the number of available tasks depends on the subscription tier. With the Go plan, the service can support three active tasks at a time; with the Plus plan, five; Business and Edu users can have up to 10 active tasks; and Pro and Enterprise plan holders can have up to 15. Once you reach the limit, you’ll need to complete, pause, or delete one of your existing tasks to create a new one.
