It looks like the veil of secrecy over the iPhone Fold, as well as the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, is gradually being lifted. A new report reveals a lot of technical details that make the first foldable iPhone much more realistic than ever before, while also answering questions about Apple’s future flagships.
If Apple does decide to release its first foldable smartphone this year, it won’t be the only star of the fall presentation. Along with it, the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are expected to debut. And new data shared by analyst and insider Jeff Pu reveals some characteristics of future gadgets.

According to preliminary data, the iPhone Fold will have a 7.8″ main display and an additional 5.3″ external screen. The heart of the device will be the new Apple A20 Pro processor paired with the Apple N2 wireless chip and Apple C2 modem. The amount of RAM will be 12 GB. The main camera will have two 48-megapixel sensors, while the front camera and the camera on the external screen will each have 18 megapixels. Instead of Face ID, the smartphone is rumored to use Touch ID, and the body will be made of titanium and aluminum.

Apple traditionally avoids the “race of numbers” and is often inferior to competitors on paper, but compensates for this with optimization and stable performance in real life. So it’s probably not worth evaluating the iPhone Fold based on its dry specs alone, especially before the device gets into users’ hands. The fold-free display (potentially), powerful chip, and proprietary photo processing may well impress its owners.

Thus, the dual main camera may look modest against the background of Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 with a camera configuration of 200 megapixels + 10 megapixels + 12 megapixels. At the same time, two 18-megapixel selfie cameras may well surpass the capabilities offered by many other foldable smartphones. A compromise for future iPhone Fold owners will also be the rejection of Face ID. Touch ID is a proven technology, but given the expected price of more than $2000, many Apple fans want to see only top-of-the-line solutions.
As for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, a lot of details have emerged. The Pro Max is rumored to have a 6.9″ display, while the iPhone 18 Pro will boast a 6.3″ display. Both models will be powered by A20 Pro, have 12 GB of RAM, an N2 chip, a C2 modem, and a triple main camera with three 48-megapixel sensors. An 18-megapixel front-facing camera and Face ID are also expected, but the Dynamic Island will be reduced. The body will be aluminum.

Interestingly, there is almost no information about the basic iPhone 18. It is expected that Apple may change the release schedule and present the basic model only in the spring of next year, in which case the company will focus exclusively on Pro models in the fall. By the way, the same may apply to the iPhone Fold. The tech giant has repeatedly postponed its foldable smartphone, so a new release date of 2027 would not look strange. The company may decide to perfect the design, even if it means an extra year of waiting.
