Motorola’s first foldable smartphone in book format is entering the Chinese market. Pre-booking is already open in Lenovo’s online store, and the start of pre-orders is scheduled for April 10. The device has already debuted on the global market at a price of €1999, while the price for China has not yet been announced, although it is expected to be more competitive.
This is an important milestone for the brand. Previously, Motorola was not really involved in the fight in the Chinese foldable smartphone market, but now it is directly competing with Samsung, OPPO, and Honor.

Pre-orders for Moto Razr Fold in China are already available, and official sales will begin on April 10. The device is available in Pearl White and Gentleman’s Black colors and comes with a Moto Pen Ultra stylus. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, and the standard version of this chip is used, not the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which is installed in the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The main camera consists of three 50-megapixel sensors and received the DXOMARK Gold Label with a score of 164 points at MWC 2026. The device is equipped with an internal 8.1-inch LTPO display with 2K resolution and 120 Hz frequency, as well as an external 6.6-inch screen with a frequency of 165 Hz. The thickness is 4.6 mm when unfolded and 9.9 mm when folded, and it weighs 244 g. The 6000 mAh battery supports 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, and also supports the Moto Pen Ultra stylus.

The Chinese version of the Razr Fold works with Lenovo’s Tianxi AI assistant, which provides adaptation to the local ecosystem and deeper integration with other Lenovo and Motorola devices. This is important in a market where Huawei and Xiaomi have already created developed interconnected ecosystems. Previously, Motorola had virtually no presence in the foldable smartphone segment in China. The opening of pre-orders even before the full launch shows the company’s serious intentions to change this situation.
The camera is the key element of this device. Three 50-megapixel sensors – primary, ultra-wide and periscopic telephoto with 3x zoom – along with DXOMARK Gold Label certification demonstrate that Motorola has aimed the Razr Fold at serious competition in mobile photography. The 164-point score puts it on par with camera-centric flagships. For the first foldable smartphone of this format from Motorola, this looks impressive.

The front camera on the internal display has a resolution of 32 megapixels, while the external screen is equipped with a 20 megapixel sensor for quick shots without having to open the device. It is worth clarifying the issue of the processor. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is a high-performance flagship solution, but it’s not the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 used in the Galaxy S26 Ultra and other top models of 2026. This is a more affordable version of Qualcomm’s flagship platform. In real-world scenarios, performance remains high, but users who focus on benchmarks should take this difference into account.
