NVIDIA, in collaboration with a group of elite Wall Street financial institutions, has organized a large-scale partnership initiative designed to provide a $0.5 trillion financial fund to buyers of this AI chip manufacturer’s technology products.

The significance of this event lies in the fact that the colossal amount of funding allocated clearly underscores the rapid growth in scale and costs required to build the infrastructure that ensures the seamless functioning of the AI economy.

The big picture is as follows: on Monday, NVIDIA announced the launch of a partnership with organizations such as Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and KKR. The goal of this alliance is to raise over $500 billion in investment capital at “favorable interest rates,” which will be directed toward the “gradual rollout of AI infrastructure.”

This move came immediately after recent reports that NVIDIA was in talks to provide $250 billion in financial guarantees for the construction of an AI data center for OpenAI, one of its key clients. It is not yet clear whether this financial backing for OpenAI is included in the newly announced agreement.

The controversy lies in the fact that such actions could once again heighten concerns about the cyclical nature of AI financing, where a supplier like NVIDIA extends credit or investment capital to its largest customers.

The main risk is this: if even one major corporation faces serious difficulties, it could trigger a destructive chain reaction throughout the entire AI ecosystem.

Regarding the parties’ positions: NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, who typically dismisses concerns about a cyclical bubble forming in the AI sector, emphasized in an official statement that this deal is vital to “help customers gain access to scarce computing power at the required scale.” Apollo President Jim Zelter noted that his organization will utilize its own “flexible, long-term capital base” for this purpose.

For his part, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink noted that companies critically need additional computing resources “to grow and create new jobs.”
