Samsung has announced an innovative display technology called Flex Titanium, which will debut in its next-generation Galaxy foldable smartphones. Ahead of the highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event, the developers shared details on how the updated display design will help make foldable devices sleeker, more durable, and more comfortable for viewing content, while significantly reducing the visibility of the fold.
The creation of Flex Titanium is the result of seven generations of evolution in Samsung’s foldable screens. This time, engineers moved away from using purely traditional materials and combined a titanium alloy film with a special titanium plate located directly beneath the OLED panel.

This film has replaced the usual polymer support layer. It provides approximately twenty times greater mechanical rigidity, even though it is only one-third the thickness of a human hair. This solution allowed Samsung to make the display module thinner without compromising its flexibility.
The titanium plate located beneath the screen features an updated design with high-precision holes that eliminate gaps between the adhesive layer and other components of the display unit. This structure provides more reliable support for the screen when fully unfolded, yet the device can easily withstand repeated folding and unfolding cycles. According to Samsung, this configuration also helps conceal the fold line and improves the overall visual experience of the content.
In addition, the developers have upgraded the screen using a high-resolution structure and next-generation organic materials. These innovations not only provide a sharper image but are also designed to reduce energy consumption, making the panel significantly more energy-efficient. Samsung emphasizes that the combination of increased body durability, greater flexibility, and improved energy efficiency is intended to bring the user experience of foldable smartphones as close as possible to that of traditional flagship devices.
The new Flex Titanium technology will make its commercial debut in the upcoming foldable devices from Samsung’s Galaxy lineup, which are scheduled to be released during the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. It is expected that during this presentation, the manufacturer will reveal additional technical details about the screen and provide a detailed overview of the latest flexible innovations.
