Sony is preparing a major update to its flagship TWS lineup. A leak from a retailer has confirmed that the new Sony WF-1000XM6 is already in the final stages of preparation for launch and will bring noticeable design changes.

The source of the information was Thai retailer Power Buy. According to a Reddit user under the nickname Mr_Snail10, a page with the WF-1000XM6 briefly appeared on the store’s website. Later it was removed, but The Walkman Blog managed to save the image and key details.

The main change concerns the appearance. The headphones have a pill-shaped body, which is noticeably different from the more rounded design of the previous generation. This decision seems to be an attempt to improve ergonomics and stability of the fit in the ear. The charging case has also been updated. It has become less curved and visually more compact, which may have a positive impact on the convenience of carrying in a pocket or bag.

The images show at least three external microphones. According to The Walkman Blog, there may be one more hidden inside, making a total of up to 4 microphones.

This upgrade is directly related to the improvement of active noise cancellation and voice call quality. The store page confirmed the basic characteristics: active noise cancellation, ambient sound mode, and IPX4 water protection. Full technical specifications have not yet been disclosed, indicating the product’s pre-release status.

As for the colors, the leak mentions only black and platinum-silver variants. Earlier, there was information about a possible Sand Pink version, but this color will probably be available later or in a limited edition.

In terms of product positioning, Sony is clearly moving towards the premium segment with a focus on design, microphone system, and comfort of daily use.
