The Xiaomi 18 has every chance of becoming one of the most exciting flagships currently in development. According to new leaks, Xiaomi is testing an engineering prototype with an impressive 7,200 mAh battery. This significantly exceeds the battery capacity of most modern premium smartphones and even slightly surpasses the figures predicted by previous leaks. If this information is confirmed, Xiaomi will be able to significantly strengthen its position in the flagship smartphone segment.

The source is the reputable insider Digital Chat Station, which regularly publishes information about the hardware of upcoming smartphones even before their official announcement (and very often, these details turn out to be accurate). Although Xiaomi has not yet confirmed any details, the leak has already attracted significant attention, as it aligns with the company’s new strategy to improve battery technology using high-density silicon batteries.

The insider also reports that the prototype will be equipped with a next-generation processor manufactured using a 2-nm process. This chip is expected to deliver a significant boost in performance and energy efficiency.

According to available information, this is a “medium cup” model – a term smartphone manufacturers typically use to refer to the standard flagship version, rather than Pro or Ultra variants. That is why it can be assumed that this prototype belongs specifically to the Xiaomi 18, rather than its higher-end versions.

Interestingly, the new flagship is rumored to feature a processor built on a 2-nm process. It will likely be one of the versions of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 Elite series, which is expected to debut around September. The transition to a 2-nm process could play a key role in improving the efficiency of such a high-capacity battery. It will allow for more transistors to be packed into the processor while reducing power consumption. As a result, the chip will be able to deliver higher performance with lower power consumption, both during everyday use and when performing resource-intensive tasks.

Combined with a battery capacity of approximately 7,200 mAh, the Xiaomi 18 has the potential to offer significantly longer battery life compared to current flagship models. Users who use the device heavily can expect more than a day of use without recharging, while with moderate use, they will likely only need to charge the smartphone once every few days.

The high-capacity battery may also have a positive impact on the duration of gaming sessions, online video streaming, navigation, photography, and AI functions, which are placing an increasingly heavy load on modern mobile devices. Improved energy efficiency should also help reduce device heating during intensive use.
This leak offers a first glimpse into the direction of the company’s next-generation flagship devices. If Xiaomi can successfully combine a highly efficient 2-nm processor with a 7,200 mAh battery while maintaining a slim and lightweight body, the new device could become one of the most interesting smartphones in its class. As a reminder, we recently reported that this smartphone could be released in November of this year.
