Warner Bros. has released a new 30-second promotional video for Dune: Part Three, which is due for release in December 2026. The short video is aimed at fueling interest in the launch of the first batch of 70mm IMAX tickets, which the company started selling extremely early. The second trailer for Dune 3 presented exclusive footage from the final part of the large-scale story.

The first look at the ending was shown by director Denis Villeneuve back on March 17, 2026, emphasizing that the audience will see a much darker and more action-packed finale. The demonstrated material focuses on Paul Atreides’ struggle against absolute power, which becomes the key theme of this final chapter.

The premiere date of the film is scheduled for December 18, 2026, which is about 8 months after the presentation. The director himself describes the genre transformation of the project as a transition to a thriller format, which differs from the previous parts with their military drama. The film takes place 17 years after Dune 2, showing significant changes in the characters. Robert Pattinson has joined the cast as Skeetale, as well as Isaac de Bankole, who plays Farock.

Denis Villeneuve confirmed that this film will be the final one in his work with the Frank Herbert universe. Although the director planned to step away from the franchise after the second part, the idea of a sequel did not give him peace of mind. According to him, images from post-production kept coming back to him even at night.

The director emphasized that he does not consider these films to be a classic trilogy. In his opinion, these are three separate works, each of which gradually increases in tension and complexity. The third part is significantly different in mood. While the first film was more meditative and the second was based around a military conflict, the new film is positioned as a thriller with constant tension. “It’s a thriller,” emphasized the director, adding that the film is filled with tough and intense action.

The plot remains centered on the relationship between Paul Atreides and Chani, but now the hero is faced with rebel forces seeking to overthrow his regime. The authorities gradually change him, revealing morally ambiguous traits that determine the development of the story and give it dynamics. Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Javier Bardem and Anya Taylor Joy made unexpected appearances at the trailer launch event.

The interaction of the actors creates a strong emotional component of the film, enhancing the dramatic tension and significance of the events. Let me remind you that the plot is based on the book Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert.

On the technical side, the film will demonstrate a new level of approach to filming. For the desert scenes, we used digital 70 mm IMAX cameras, which allow us to convey the maximum image intensity. At the same time, the interior scenes were shot on film for the first time in the director’s career, which provides a more intimate and emotionally charged atmosphere. Cinematographer Linus Sandgren expanded the visual language of Dune’s universe by combining different shooting formats. This approach creates a contrast between large-scale action scenes and more intimate moments, emphasizing the drama.

The trailer shows the internal struggle of Paul as he faces the consequences of his power and the threat of rebellion. Chani, played by Zendaya, remains a key figure, and their relationship is tested by political upheaval. Anya Taylor Joy appears as Aaliyah, Paul’s younger sister, bringing new storylines. The audience questions whether Paul will be able to remain the same or whether the government will finally transform him.
