Many people today spend a significant portion of their time sitting at a computer, whether for work, gaming, or media consumption. Regardless of the specific activity, the chair used at a desk remains one of the primary factors influencing overall comfort during extended sessions in front of a laptop or monitor. This review examines the HATOR Arc 3 PU, a flagship computer chair positioned at the top of the manufacturer’s lineup.

Positioning and price
In the manufacturer’s lineup, the HATOR Arc 3 PU is the flagship chair and is priced at the top of the range. This model is offered in three size variants that differ in both overall dimensions and the maximum supported user weight. The smallest size, S, is rated for up to 120 kg; the mid-size, L, for up to 150 kg; and the largest, XL, for up to 180 kg. The unit under review is the XL variant. In the brand’s official store, its standard listed price is $560 / €471.

When compared with similar products on the market, this price is not unusually high for a gaming chair; some models with comparable specifications and features from well-known brands are listed at over $1000. At the same time, the HATOR Arc 3 PU sits at the upper end of the mid-range segment rather than in a true premium bracket. The chair’s cost is significant, and users can reasonably expect solid build quality and a comprehensive set of features. The following sections look in detail at what the chair offers for its price.
Package Contents and Packaging
The HATOR Arc 3 PU is delivered in a large cardboard box designed to protect the chair during transportation. The packaging appears structurally rigid and well-suited for shipping. Notably, the box includes two carry handles reinforced with plastic inserts, which make handling more convenient. Although moving the package is easier with two people, it can be managed by one person if necessary. In this case, the chair was collected from a parcel pickup point and transported to a vehicle and elevator without additional assistance, indicating that solo handling, while not ideal, is feasible.
The internal packaging is designed to minimize the risk of damage during transport. All components are wrapped in protective film or secured with polymer inserts. Some parts are additionally shielded with cardboard, while smaller elements are placed in separate boxes.
At the top of the package, there is a large printed assembly manual. The chair is delivered disassembled, with all major components arranged separately. The box includes the necessary hardware and tools required for assembly and initial use. A small packet of lubricant is also provided, intended for future maintenance of moving parts and fasteners if noise develops over time.
Assembly of the HATOR Arc 3 PU
The assembly process is straightforward and unlikely to cause difficulties for most users. The package includes all required tools and fasteners, and the printed instructions are clear and easy to follow.

It is also worth noting that the box includes a specialized multi-purpose tool, which allows all assembly steps to be completed without the need for any additional tools.

In short: assemble the crosspiece with wheels and gas lift, screw the base for the gas lift with the rocking mechanism and stable armrests to the bottom of the seat, connect the seat to the gas lift (simply insert it into the hole), screw the backrest to the guide brackets on the seat.
Additional removable cushions attach to the chair using magnets, and the side panels are also secured with magnetic fasteners.
Overall, the assembly process is straightforward and typically takes around 30 minutes, assuming no interruptions for tasks such as photographing each step, as was done during this review.

Design and Materials
The HATOR Arc 3 PU features a design typical of gaming chairs, with pronounced lateral support reminiscent of sports car seats when considering its shape alone. However, the absence of bright or high-contrast accents gives it a more understated and versatile appearance, making it suitable for a wider range of environments beyond purely gaming setups.

The chair could easily fit in an executive office or a manager’s workspace in a professional setting. Its overall appearance is solid and relatively premium, allowing it to blend well with a variety of interior styles.

The unit reviewed here is the black version, upholstered in synthetic leather. For those who prefer fabric, the chair is also available as the HATOR Arc 3 Velour, featuring velour upholstery, as the name suggests. Several color options are offered for this variant:
Overall, the materials and components used in the HATOR Arc 3 are of high quality, and no obvious defects were observed during the review. The steel base is sturdy yet relatively lightweight, thanks to its hollow construction with reinforcing ribs. The casters roll smoothly, and their soft coating helps protect flooring, although the manufacturer still recommends using a dedicated chair mat.
The plastics used in the chair appear durable and well-finished. The synthetic HybridFiber Leather is soft to the touch, with neat stitching throughout. Perforations on the seat and backrest are included to improve breathability and temperature regulation during warmer conditions.

Functional Features and Comfort
Starting with adjustability, the chair provides several options for customizing its position. These adjustments are key to achieving an ergonomically comfortable seating posture and allow users to modify the chair’s configuration during extended use.

In terms of adjustability, the HATOR Arc 3 performs very well. Using a side lever, the backrest can recline up to 170°.

Levers located under the seat allow height adjustment and activation of the rocking function. Additionally, the rocking tension can be modified using a control on the gas lift mount. However, it is not recommended to use the maximum recline and rocking modes simultaneously, as doing so may increase the risk of tipping over.

The armrests are particularly notable, offering height adjustment, rotation along their axis, forward and backward movement, and lateral widening within a broad range.

Additionally, the soft armrest pads can be detached from their bases, though their intended purpose is unclear. For example, one could potentially use the space to store small, flat items. Magnets are used to secure these components in place.

After adjusting the chair’s various components, it was straightforward to find an optimal configuration for comfortable seating. It is worth noting, however, that a height-adjustable desk also contributes significantly to achieving an ergonomic workspace in combination with a well-configured chair.

In my view, a motorized desk is almost essential for anyone spending long hours at a computer. The adjustable height allows for periodic standing work, which can help mitigate issues associated with a predominantly sedentary lifestyle. That said, this is somewhat outside the scope of the chair review.

Overall, the HATOR Arc 3 is very comfortable. The seat firmness is well-suited to my weight, and the lumbar support functions effectively. The armrests provide proper support for the elbows, maintaining correct positioning without sagging, and their width aligns appropriately with the body. This level of support is particularly important for users who spend extended periods in a computer chair, which likely applies to many readers of this review.

Programmable NFC Tag
At first, the inclusion of an NFC tag in the chair may seem surprising or unnecessary, since it interacts with a smartphone rather than the computer. Many users might overlook it, considering it a nonessential feature. However, the NFC tag can serve practical purposes. It allows users to trigger predefined actions on their smartphone before sitting down, offering convenience in routines or workflows.

For example, the NFC tag can be used in several practical ways:
The simplest use is to trigger a specific mode on your smartphone – such as silent, “Do Not Disturb,” or even airplane mode – while you work at your computer.
It can connect your phone via Bluetooth to a sound system and start a favorite playlist, providing background music during work or gaming sessions.
- It can control external lighting profiles if your smart home setup allows smartphone-based management.
Many gaming laptops offer companion mobile apps that sync with the laptop via the cloud. Using the NFC tag, you can activate a gaming profile with a single tap, adjusting keyboard lighting, enabling macros, or optimizing CPU and GPU performance. Conversely, you could switch to a quiet, energy-saving mode when needed.
In practice, you can create scenarios of virtually any complexity and program them on your smartphone, triggering them with a simple tap on the NFC tag. Using automation apps like Tasker for Android, it is possible to set up sequential switching between two scenarios with repeated taps – for example, alternating between a work profile and a gaming profile on your laptop. For some users, this feature may be one of the most distinctive aspects of HATOR chairs. Personally, I plan to develop a custom scenario for my setup, and I may share detailed examples later of the different workflows and automations that can be implemented using this NFC functionality.
Conclusions
The HATOR Arc 3 PU is an example of a well-constructed product from a Ukrainian brand, and it can be recommended to users beyond Ukraine in any region where it is available. The chair is comfortable and versatile, suitable for both daily work and extended gaming sessions.
