The all-electric Lexus ES is returning for the 2027 model year, with a starting price of less than $50,000. The electric car has been completely redesigned, both inside and out. The sedan, based on the LF-ZC concept car, features the new Lexus Spindle Body design – the latest evolution of the brand’s signature grille.

The new Lexus ES measures 514.1 × 192 × 156 cm, with a wheelbase of 294.9 cm. It is slightly larger than its predecessor and offers more interior space for both front and rear passengers. In terms of size, it is similar to the BMW 5 Series.

All 2027 ES models are equipped with a new 12.3-inch Multi-Information Display and the latest Lexus infotainment system with a 14-inch touchscreen. The standard package for all versions of the electric vehicle includes a wireless phone charger, SmartAccess keyless entry, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2027 Lexus ES is available in two versions: the front-wheel-drive ES 350e and the all-wheel-drive ES 500e, with each version offered in Premium and Luxury trim levels. The ES 350e is equipped with a single front-mounted electric motor producing 221 k. s. The 500e model additionally features a rear electric motor with 118 k. s., bringing the total output to 338 k. s. Thanks to its greater power and the DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system, the 500e is faster – it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 5.1 seconds.

All versions of the ES 350e and 500e use the same 74.7 kWh battery. However, the ES 350e has an EPA-estimated range of up to 494 km with standard 19-inch wheels. With 21-inch wheels, the range is just under 470 km. The ES 500e has an EPA-estimated range of 444 km when equipped with 19-inch wheels. With 21-inch wheels, it can travel up to 437 km.

Like Toyota’s latest electric SUVs, the new ES features a built-in NACS port. According to Lexus, the electric sedan can be charged from 10% to 80% in about 28 minutes using fast DC charging at up to 150 kW.

The 2027 front-wheel-drive Lexus ES 350e Premium starts at $49,005, including a $1,395 delivery fee. The all-wheel-drive ES 500e Premium starts at $52,005. With this starting price, the Lexus ES will be cheaper than its main luxury competitors, the BMW i4 and Audi A6 e-tron. However, it’s worth noting that these prices apply specifically to the all-electric model, as the 2027 Lexus ES 350h Premium hybrid is slightly more expensive, with a starting price of $51,200.

The 2027 models are expected to begin arriving at dealerships in September.
