The new Škoda Epiq city crossover marks a major update to the Czech brand’s electric vehicle lineup. This model expands the brand’s presence in the class of compact mass-market battery-powered cars by successfully combining small external dimensions with amazing roominess and excellent utilitarian characteristics.

Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto, notes that this car is the most understandable and financially profitable ticket to the space of modern electric mobility. According to him, the compact and confident crossover clearly conveys the brand’s DNA, offering an exemplary balance between price and consumer qualities. The executive emphasizes that the new product sets new benchmarks for the entire entry-level electric vehicle class with its minimalist and functional visual style, user-friendly interface, and perfect adaptability to everyday travel.
The designers of the concern managed to combine modest body dimensions with an extremely spacious interior and a spacious luggage compartment of 475 liters, subordinating the architecture to the principles of practicality. The car has retained the branded useful features of the Simply Clever line and high quality workmanship, adding advanced features such as reverse power transmission technology.
The car has made history as the first electric vehicle to use the modernized MEB+ architecture and at the same time be equipped with exclusively front-wheel drive. The design was developed specifically for the next generation of small battery cars, thanks to which engineers reduced the overall weight and significantly improved energy efficiency. The ability to cover approximately 440 kilometers without recharging and compatibility with fast charging terminals make the car a great companion for both daily city driving and long trips. The SUV has fully retained the traditional advantages of the brand’s models, which is reflected in the large amount of free space, and its 475-liter cargo compartment is the leader among direct competitors.
The visual image of the car is based on the use of clean and precise lines, laconic shapes and carefully crafted elements. The main style markers are the dark glossy Tech-Deck Face insert on the front and the original optical blocks in the shape of the letter T, which will later become the brand’s trademark for the entire future line of crossovers. The assembled body silhouette successfully combines dynamic style with interior space. In addition, serious work on aerodynamics has reduced the air drag coefficient to 0.275, which directly affects the economical consumption of battery power.
The interior space of the car surprises with its volume and functionality, which are enhanced by the main 475-liter trunk and a well-thought-out system of niches for small items, including an additional front storage space – a 25-liter frank. The interior and the layout of the controls are fully subordinated to the Modern Solid concept, offering a clear logic of interaction. The use of durable materials and a large number of ergonomic solutions from the Simply Clever complex make the car’s operation as convenient as possible in everyday life.
Customers are offered two types of traction batteries and three variants of powertrain output, with torque being transmitted only to the front axle in any case. The MEB+ architecture has paved the way for the use of lightweight batteries, which has helped the developers reduce energy consumption while optimizing the layout of the passenger area. Taking into account the chosen modification, the electric car boasts an autonomy of 440 km, and the process of energy recovery at DC stations in the range of 10% to 80% lasts only about 24 minutes. To replenish the charge from AC power sources, the car has a standard 11 kW charger integrated into the vehicle.
An important feature of the parquet is the introduction of a two-way energy exchange system that allows third-party devices to be powered from the car or, if the appropriate technical conditions are met, to supply electricity to the home network or the general power supply system. Drivers also have access to full-fledged driving with a single pedal in the transmission grooves with a B-index, where they can independently set the level of deceleration and regenerative braking.
The range of safety features and electronic assistants in this model meets the standards of more expensive premium cars. An extensive list of safety systems is integrated into the standard equipment list, including the proprietary Front Assist forward collision detection, Side Assist blind spot monitoring, Lane Assist lane keeping, and automatic road sign reading. Special additional packages such as Travel Assist 3.0 allow you to activate advanced modes of semi-automatic assistance on the road. Seven inflatable airbags are responsible for protecting the life and health of people inside the cabin, including a special cushion between the front seats.
The basis of the information environment for the driver and passengers is a modern multimedia system running the Android operating system, equipped with a large 13-inch touchscreen. The media system has flexible user-specific customization tools, supports network services and has its own digital marketplace for downloading applications. The MyŠkoda mobile tool allows you to remotely monitor vehicle parameters, monitor charging progress, and activate climate or other comfort systems.
Almost immediately after the official release, a limited edition called First Edition will be launched. It is based on the Selection version, but features a significantly richer initial equipment level and will be sold exclusively with the most uncompromising and powerful engine option. In addition, this limited edition will be easily recognizable thanks to exclusive decorative touches in the exterior and interior.
The introduction of this model seriously strengthens the position of the Czech brand’s eco-friendly lineup in the highly relevant segment of relatively inexpensive cars, providing potential buyers with an excellent alternative among modern vehicles. Developed under the auspices of the European Urban Car Family division of Brand Group Core, this SUV takes full advantage of the Group’s expertise and production scaling, which has allowed the company to offer advanced technologies at an attractive price for the mass consumer.
