Wargaming, the studio best known for its hit title World of Tanks, has announced the largest update in the game’s history. Branded as World of Tanks 2.0, the overhaul introduces major changes to both gameplay and presentation. Among the additions are entirely new Tier XI tanks, a redesigned garage and interface, a story-driven PvE mode set on a new map, extensive rebalancing of hundreds of vehicles, an updated matchmaking system, and a range of other improvements.

World of Tanks 2.0

“2.0 is not just an update – it’s a cornerstone for the future evolution of the game that will shape World of Tanks for years to come,” said Michael Broek, Publishing Director West at World of Tanks. “We’re excited to share the results of two years of hard work by our team. Whether you’re new to the game, a longtime veteran, or returning after a break, Update 2.0 makes this the best time to play World of Tanks.”

With Update 2.0, World of Tanks will introduce several major additions:

  • 16 new Tier XI tanks featuring unique mechanics and a new progression system, with more vehicles planned for future updates.
  • A completely redesigned garage, now styled as a tank factory where vehicles are assembled, customized, and prepared for battle.
  • An updated interface, streamlined for simplicity while providing more information and functionality.
  • A new map, Nordskar – a Scandinavian-inspired battlefield that players have long requested, developed by the Kyiv-based World of Tanks team.
  • PvE Event – “Operation Boiling Point”: This story-driven mode introduces the arrival of Tier XI tanks. Players will be able to test three vehicles from the new class on a freshly designed battlefield. The mode was developed by the Wargaming Kyiv team, known for its work on single-player content in World of Tanks.
  • A redesigned matchmaking system: Built from the ground up to reduce queue times, improve team balance, and create faster, more dynamic battles.

The update also includes a large-scale vehicle rebalance. More than 350 tanks across all tiers have been reworked to establish clearer roles and ensure fairer gameplay.

Another notable change is the sound upgrade, which introduces more powerful and authentic tank audio recorded from real vehicles, improved combat effects, and an immersive soundscape that adds depth to each battle. In addition, the game continues to fully support Ukrainian localization, which has been available for nine years.
