In recent months, there have been numerous news reports and leaks regarding the development of the Garmin CIRQA Smart Ring, and it’s looking more and more like the company is actually preparing to unveil a new smart ring that will compete with Samsung and Oura. As noted by Gadgets & Wearables, a new entry in the certification registry on the Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency’s website contains a series of mysterious product codes that Garmin registered on the very same day.
Recently, Anatel issued a certificate covering ten Garmin devices under a single certification entry, with a list of codes ranging from A05124, B05124, C05124, D05124, E05124, F05124, G05124, H05124, I05124 to AA5124. All ten variants were registered on the same day, with Garmin International Inc. listed as the manufacturer. This range of variants may indicate that the devices belong to different models of the same product – for example, different colors or sizes.

If this is indeed the CIRQA Smart Ring, it will mark Garmin’s first attempt to create a device of this type and the second product in the CIRQA lineup. It will join the screenless CIRQA Smart Band fitness tracker, which the company unveiled earlier this year. The new device will clearly aim to capture market share in a segment currently dominated by Oura and Samsung.
It’s interesting to wonder whether the information in the Brazilian certification documents might actually refer to new Garmin watches rather than smart rings. After all, the company itself has never even confirmed that it is developing a smart ring. There’s certainly no 100% certainty, but the fact that we’re talking about ten separate models of a single device strongly suggests a smart ring. A watch wouldn’t require so many different variants, since manufacturers typically release only a few size options. Smart rings, on the other hand, usually come in many more variants to accommodate users’ different finger sizes.

Talk of this device’s potential release picked up in August, when Garmin Rumors spotted a new product explicitly named the CIRQA Smart Ring, which appeared in Indonesian regulatory documents. There are currently no precise estimates as to when the ring might finally be released, but if it has indeed just appeared in yet another official certification process, we may not have long to wait.
