Apple ‘s App Store remains one of the largest digital platforms in the world, with more than 850 million people in 175 countries using it every week. Because of this scale, the platform attracts the attention of attackers and fraudsters who try to harm users and companies through malicious applications.

The tech giant shared its App Store security statistics for 2025 and reported that it prevented potentially fraudulent transactions worth more than $2.2 billion. In general, over the past 6 years, this figure has reached $11.2 billion. In addition, Apple has prevented the use of more than 5.4 million stolen bank cards and blocked almost 2 million accounts from future transactions.

Last year, Apple reviewed 9.1 million applications for placement in the App Store. Of these, more than 2 million applications were rejected, reducing the risk of malware spreading through the platform.

Apple also noted that attackers have begun to actively use bot networks to create fake accounts, send spam, manipulate ratings, and add fake reviews. Last year, its Trust and Safety team was able to stop several large-scale attempts to create fraudulent accounts.

Apple rejected more than 1.1 billion attempts to create fake user accounts in the App Store and deactivated more than 40.4 million accounts due to fraud and abuse. In addition, the company deleted 193 thousand developer accounts due to suspected fraud and rejected 138 thousand applications for registration. Outside of its own ecosystem, Apple has also identified and blocked 28 thousand illegitimate apps on pirate sites.

The problem of fake reviews also remains relevant. Attackers continue to publish fake ratings to artificially increase the rating of apps. Apple reported that it uses a combination of AI and human moderation to identify problematic reviews. Out of 1.3 billion ratings and reviews processed in 2025, the company blocked almost 195 million and prevented about 7,800 malicious apps from appearing in search results.

All of these figures demonstrate the extent to which platforms such as the App Store and Google Play work to ensure the safety of apps and games. At the same time, Apple’s data for 2024 and 2025 show that the volume of fraudulent and malicious activity continues to grow every year. The tech giant also pays attention to apps for so-called wybcoding, as they can allegedly change their own functionality or the operation of other apps on their own.

The company added a new subscription option to the App Store that developers can offer to their users. In addition, Apple has finalized the list of 36 apps and games nominated for this year’s Apple Design Awards.
