Garmin’s lineup of running watches has long been in need of new models, so the company decided to increase the choice in this segment. It introduced three “easy-to-use” running watches at once. The new models are the Garmin Forerunner 70, Forerunner 170, and 170 Music.
The devices are equipped with features to help both beginners and experienced runners. Both models feature bright 1.2-inch AMOLED displays, touchscreens, and a five-button design. They also offer health monitoring features, advanced training tools, smart notifications, and more.

“Specifically designed to meet the needs of runners just starting out, the Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170 are packed with advanced running and training features from our more advanced Forerunner models, as well as popular health and wellness metrics,” said Susan Lyman, Garmin’s vice president of consumer sales and marketing. – “This smartwatch is the perfect companion for both beginners and experienced runners.

The Forerunner 70 features GPS, time, distance, pace and wrist heart rate tracking. Quick workouts simplify the training process by automatically generating recommendations adapted to the user’s fitness level. All you need to do is set the duration and intensity.

The watch also offers Garmin Coach training plans to help you prepare for competitions, achieve sporting goals, or improve your fitness. The plans adjust daily to the user’s health and recovery. And Garmin Run Coach offers new plans that alternate between running and walking.
Forerunner 70 supports advanced training features created with the help of the Garmin Human Performance Lab, such as Training Readiness, Training Status, Running Power with wrist measurement, and Running Dynamics. In addition, more than 80 built-in sports modes are available, including swimming, cycling, strength training, and more.
The watch provides round-the-clock health and wellness monitoring with advanced sleep tracking, breathing analysis, heart rate variability (HRV) status, Pulse Ox, lifestyle log, and Health Status. The Forerunner 70 can run for up to 13 days on a single charge and will be available in Citron, Soft Pink, Tidal Blue, Cool Lavender, Black and Whitestone colors.

The Forerunner 170 takes the best of the Forerunner 70 and adds more features for use on the go, including Garmin Pay contactless payments. And for those who like to work out to music, the Forerunner 170 Music version is available. It allows you to download songs, podcasts, and other content from popular third-party music services by subscription directly to your watch. You can listen to them without a smartphone through wireless headphones.

The Forerunner 170 and Forerunner 170 Music provide up to 10 days of battery life in smartwatch mode. They will be available in black with a Black/Amp Yellow strap and in a Whitestone version with a Whitestone/Cloud Blue strap. The Forerunner 170 Music version will also be available in bright colors Teal Green with a Teal Green/Citron strap and Red Pink with a Red Pink/Mango strap.

Sales will start on May 15, 2026. The price of the Forerunner 70 will start at $249.99, the Forerunner 170 will cost $299.99, and the Forerunner 170 Music will cost $349.99.
