Gemini’s Notebooks feature opens up new opportunities to organize chats and projects right in the app. Thanks to integration with NotebookLM, an AI-powered research tool from Google, the learning and task completion process becomes more structured and efficient.
Gemini has long been used as a universal assistant in various fields, from exam preparation to learning new skills. However, as the number of queries increases, it becomes difficult to organize large amounts of data. To solve this problem, Google added NotebookLM functionality to Gemini at the end of last year, and now this area has been further developed with the launch of Notebooks.

This feature effectively creates personal knowledge bases within the Google ecosystem, starting with Gemini. It provides a separate workspace for organizing dialogs and files, and synchronization with NotebookLM expands the available options for working right within the application.
Users can combine all materials on a specific topic in one place. To create one, just click “New Notebook” in the Gemini side menu. You can add previous chats, upload documents and PDFs, or set your own instructions for working with AI. This allows Gemini to gain context and use its tools along with web search to generate more accurate and useful answers.

Notebooks’ capabilities expand depending on the tariff, allowing you to use more sources for complex projects. At the same time, all data is automatically synchronized between Gemini and NotebookLM, so any changes are instantly reflected in both services. This approach makes it possible to combine their functions: for example, to create infographics or video reviews in NotebookLM even if the work was started in Gemini.

This opens up additional use cases. For example, a student can upload lecture notes to NotebookLM, generate a video review based on them in NotebookLM, and then return to Gemini to get a structure for an essay using the same materials.
This week, Google is starting a gradual rollout of Notebooks to Gemini. First, the feature will be available for Google AI Ultra, Pro, and Plus subscribers in the web version. At the same time, it will not work for users under the age of 18, as well as for Workspace and Education accounts. Over the next few weeks, access will be available on mobile devices, in more European countries, and for users of the free version. This is only the initial stage of development, and Google plans to further expand the capabilities of Notebooks.
