OnePlus’ presence in European countries and the U.S. may be coming to an end. According to the German publication WinFuture, OnePlus and its parent company, OPPO, are preparing to announce major strategic changes to the world this week. According to insiders, as part of these changes, the brand will exit the European and U.S. smartphone markets, while OPPO, on the other hand, will only expand its presence, as it is set to fill the resulting niche. This primarily applies to European countries.

It’s worth noting that this new leak comes amid a rather challenging year for OnePlus. In January, rumors spread online that the company was shutting down, but the company publicly denied them. Since then, there have been several more reports suggesting that the brand may still scale back its presence in the global market. In particular, it was recently reported that future OnePlus smartphones may be sold outside of China with OPPO’s ColorOS instead of the proprietary OxygenOS.

And there are already signs that OnePlus is scaling back its presence in some European countries. For example, in Germany, only the OnePlus 15R is currently available in the company’s official online store. Even the flagship OnePlus 15 and the Nord series models are no longer for sale. According to WinFuture, a similar situation is also observed in Italy, Spain, France, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.

If this leak is confirmed, it will mark one of the most significant changes for BBK Electronics’ smartphone brands outside of China. OnePlus gained popularity thanks to its flagship-level smartphones at a more affordable price point, and later expanded its lineup to include premium smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and headphones. Withdrawing from the two largest Western markets represents a truly radical shift in strategy for the company.
Currently, neither OnePlus nor OPPO has officially confirmed these plans. But if the announcement is indeed scheduled for this week, we won’t have to wait long for confirmation of these rumors.
