Apple has announced the date when it will officially unveil its latest iPhone models to the public. The Cupertino-based company has scheduled the smartphone event for September 9. The live stream will be available on Apple’s official website and on its YouTube channel starting at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time (8:00 p.m. Kyiv time).
The most talked-about rumor regarding Apple’s upcoming fall event is the likely release of a smartphone with a foldable screen. The company’s developers have already laid the groundwork for the release of such a device in the iOS 27 source code. It is expected that the new model, dubbed the iPhone Ultra, will offer the same level of convenience as the iPad Mini right in the user’s pocket, as it will unfold into a full-fledged tablet format.
This year, Apple is quite capable of introducing an even more significant division within the iPhone 18 lineup. Along with the iPhone Ultra model, the company is guaranteed to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro versions as early as next month. However, the public will likely have to wait until spring 2027 for the release of the iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18e, and possibly even the standard iPhone 18.
There is no doubt that Apple is integrating AI into the very core of its products’ functionality, and this topic will be a key focus of discussion during the event. The change in the structure of the June WWDC conference was by no means a random move on the brand’s part. Instead of a sequential breakdown of updates for each of its operating systems, Apple focused on demonstrating its vision for a unified cross-platform environment. This environment is built around a radically updated Siri AI voice assistant and the Apple Intelligence system.
According to analysts, Apple is preparing a whole range of new hardware solutions closely tied to the overall ecosystem based on Siri AI. Notable among these are the latest iPad models, an updated HomePod mini, the Apple TV media player, and a dedicated smart display for controlling smart home devices. However, given Apple’s long-standing tradition (and the fact that the company typically sticks to its traditions), the main focus of this event will be exclusively on the new generation of iPhones.
Another important feature of the upcoming event is that it will be hosted for the first time by John Ternus in his new role as Apple’s CEO. He will officially replace Tim Cook in this position on September 1.
