Motorola took the lead in the foldable smartphone segment with flip form factors. According to an IDC analyst report, the company’s market share in the first quarter of 2025 reached 40.4%, up from 32.6% in the same period the previous year. Additionally, shipments grew across all major regions, with particularly strong performance in the U.S. and Latin American markets.
According to analysts, Motorola’s market share in the U.S. reached 94.1%, up from 80.6% in the first quarter of last year. In the European market, Motorola’s flip smartphones captured 37.9% of their segment, compared to 10.3% in Q1 2024. The most notable growth was seen in Latin America, where the share jumped from 22.1% in the first quarter of 2024 to 75.8%.
Motorola’s strong performance is attributed in part to its product lineup, particularly the Razr 50 and Razr 60 series. The Razr 60 Ultra features a flagship chipset, a primary 7-inch SuperHD LTPO AMOLED display, a secondary 4-inch OLED external screen, and a 4700 mAh battery with support for 68W TurboPower fast charging.
Additionally, at the end of last year, Motorola launched the Razr 50D foldable smartphone in white for the Japanese market. This model features a 6.9-inch FHD+ POLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, a 3.6-inch external screen, and a smaller 4000 mAh battery.
Recently, we covered a report from Motorola’s latest smartphone and accessories launch event held in Poland. The event featured the Razr 60 series, Edge 60, Motorola’s own AI platform called Moto AI, as well as the Moto Buds Loop earbuds and Moto Watch Fit smartwatch.
