Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have reason to celebrate – the first official trailer for “Avengers: Doomsday” has finally been released. Attendees at CinemaCon in April got a sneak peek, but today the studio released the full trailer, and it really is “Avengers Assemble” (с).
“Avengers: Doomsday” will serve as the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has evolved over the past seven years and three phases since the release of “Avengers: Endgame.” In the new film, nearly all of the MCU’s key characters will unite to take on the new main villain – Doctor Doom.

In the trailer, the Marvel heroes gather as Doctor Doom prepares to launch a multiverse-spanning war against the superheroes. Thor faces off against Doom and is reunited with Captain America, played by Chris Evans, who is finally returning to the Cinematic Universe following the events of “Endgame”. The Avengers Universe will also officially welcome several characters from the Fox X-Men films, specifically Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, Cyclops, and Gambit (yes, Channing Tatum, thankfully, hasn’t hung up his Remy LeBeau costume after filming “Deadpool and Wolverine”). Following their big-screen debut last year, the Fantastic Four and the Thunderbolts are also joining the effort to save the multiverse.

“Avengers: Doomsday” premieres on December 18 in the U.S., and “Avengers: Secret Wars” will be released a year later. Both films are directed by the Russo brothers, whom you probably know from the two Captain America films, as well as “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame”.
After Iron Man sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos and save the world in Endgame, bringing Robert Downey Jr. back seemed like it wouldn’t be so easy. But it’s not impossible. Details about his version of Doctor Doom haven’t been fully revealed yet, but it’s safe to assume that this Victor von Doom is a version of Iron Man from another universe. He already made a brief appearance in the post-credits scene of the “Fantastic Four” reboot, but his face was hidden.

The list of Marvel actors returning for “Avengers: Doomsday” isn’t just long – it’s downright impressive. Starting in March 2025, Marvel has been gradually revealing the cast. Returning to their roles are Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Simu Liu, and Tenoch Huerta will all return to their roles. Also returning are members of two new teams – the Fantastic Four and the Thunderbolts – namely Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bakrak, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, and Lewis Pullman.

Of course, among the most anticipated additions to the cast are characters from past X-Men films, who will now join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These include Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, and Rebecca Romijn.
To build excitement for the upcoming premiere, Disney has already released four teasers. The first confirmed Chris Evans’ return as Steve Rogers. The second featured Thor and his adopted daughter Love. The third teaser introduced Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops for the first time, while the fourth teaser showed Black Panther (played by Letitia Wright), Namor, and M’Baku encountering the Beast in Wakanda.
