Birdfy, an innovator in smart bird-monitoring technology, has announced the launch of the Birdfy Feeder Metal, a smart bird feeder. It can be placed outdoors in harsh conditions and is equipped with intelligent bird recognition, high-definition video, and real-time alerts. This feeder combines a durable metal construction, a built-in solar panel, a 1080p camera, and an AI feature that recognizes over 6,000 bird species.

Birdfy aims to make birdwatching more accessible and exciting through smart technology. The feeder features a sturdy metal housing with a rust-resistant coating designed to withstand squirrels and other rodents. This sturdy design offers an alternative to standard plastic feeders and helps protect the unit from damage, scratches, and wear caused by harsh weather conditions.

The feeder was designed as a complete solution: a built-in solar panel and pre-mounted perches are integrated into the housing to minimize the number of separate components and simplify installation and maintenance. The solar-powered design helps ensure continuous bird monitoring with less need for manual recharging, while a 9,000 mAh lithium-ion battery provides power storage for the camera. The built-in 2-watt solar panel is designed to harness sunlight throughout the day.

At the center of the Birdfy Feeder Metal is a 2-megapixel camera capable of recording detailed video of birds flying to the feeder. Color night vision extends observation capabilities beyond daylight hours, allowing you to capture bird activity in low-light conditions as well as during the day. The camera supports two-way audio communication via a built-in microphone and speaker.

The Birdfy app can recognize over 6,000 bird species. Real-time “Bird’s Here” notifications alert connected devices when birds appear, and the app provides remote viewing and access to recorded moments. Birdfy’s features also include cloud storage, where captured moments are saved for later review. Birdfy’s monthly Recap provides a summary of activity at the feeder, while Highlights can help identify daily bird activity, first-time visitors, and the best images. AI bird recognition is available either via subscription or for free for life, depending on the selected product configuration.

The Birdfy Feeder Metal’s 2.5-liter seed container provides a sufficient supply of food, and the spill-proof design helps keep the area clean during feeding. The adjustable perch is designed for birds of various sizes, and the feeder itself can be mounted in various locations – including on a wall, pole, or tree – using the mounting accessories included in the kit. The feeder is IP66-rated for water resistance and is designed to operate at temperatures ranging from -10°C to 45°C.
The feeder is available on the Birdfy website and Amazon UK for £159.99, but its price has now been reduced to £219.99.
