Xiaomi has officially confirmed the launch of Redmi K90 Max in China in April and revealed the key features of this model that significantly distinguish it from other K-series smartphones. The novelty is being created with a clear focus on mobile gaming, and in this case, it will not be an additional feature, but the basic concept of the device.
The main feature of the model will be a built-in cooling fan, which is the first such solution among Xiaomi smartphones. Previously, active cooling systems remained the prerogative of specialized gaming devices, including RedMagic models. Now, the integration of such an element into a mass-market flagship smartphone means that Redmi K90 Max will be able to maintain the maximum performance of the Dimensity 9500 chipset during long gaming sessions without dropping frequencies due to overheating.
The device’s display will have a refresh rate of 165 Hz, which is higher than the 144 Hz currently used in most competitive gaming smartphones. Together with the confirmed shoulder buttons and optimized touch controls, this indicates that the device is focused on esports use cases, not just regular gaming.

The company has also confirmed a dual-chip configuration, but details about the second processor have not yet been revealed. The main Dimensity 9500 chip will be responsible for overall performance, while the second one will probably be used for image processing or artificial intelligence tasks. Its purpose will be revealed closer to the presentation.

For comparison, the K90 Pro Max model is equipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The use of Dimensity 9500 in the Max version makes it not a direct competitor to the older model, but a separate alternative with a different approach to performance and a different target audience.
Along with the confirmation of the Redmi K90 Max, the company also announced the upcoming launch of the Redmi K Pad 2. Previous leaks point to an 8.8″ display with a 165Hz refresh rate, the same Dimensity 9500 chip, and a 9000mAh battery. If these specs are confirmed, the device could become one of the most powerful compact Android tablets.
Promotional activity around Redmi K Pad 2 has already begun, indicating that the official presentation is approaching. However, the full specifications and exact release date are still a surprise.
