Samsung is working on the Galaxy Ring 2. This was confirmed by Dr. Hong Park, Samsung’s senior vice president and head of the Digital Health division, in an interview with Forbes. According to Dr. Hong Park, the second-generation smart ring will be more deeply integrated into the Samsung ecosystem and may also be compatible with the iPhone.
During the interview, Dr. Hon Pak confirmed that the tech giant is already developing the new device, though he did not specify a release date. “We’re working on the next generation. That much I can tell you,” he said.

The first generation of the Galaxy Ring (you can find our review here) was unveiled at Samsung’s summer Unpacked event in July 2024, so the current timeline is entirely consistent with a possible product refresh cycle.

Samsung is preparing to unveil the new Galaxy Fold8 and Galaxy Flip8 foldable smartphones on July 22 at an event in London. Following Dr. Hon Pak’s statement, it’s reasonable to assume that along with the new foldable smartphones, the company will also announce the Galaxy Ring 2 or at least unveil a teaser for it.
When asked about the hardware of the new smart ring, Dr. Hon Park emphasized that most modern rings use similar sensors, and the capabilities of such devices are limited. “If you look at comparisons of other smart rings, regardless of the competitor, the sensors aren’t all that different at the moment. The real difference lies in the services you build on top of them,” he says. “The main difference lies in the software. A single device can’t do everything, so our approach is to create an integrated ecosystem and connected devices that give people a choice.”

According to Dr. Hon Pak, the main advantage of the Galaxy Ring 2 will be its improved integration into the Samsung ecosystem. The company aims to create a network of interconnected devices that will exchange data, providing a better understanding of context and offering users more useful services. As an example, he cited the combination of biometric data collected from Galaxy smartphones, smartwatches, smart rings, and SmartThings devices. This will allow for better analysis of users’ daily habits and the provision of personalized recommendations regarding health and well-being.
One of the most interesting topics of the interview was the potential compatibility of the upcoming Galaxy Ring 2 with iOS. When asked whether the second-generation smart ring would work on platforms other than Android, Samsung’s senior vice president gave a rather interesting answer – diplomatic, yet promising. “I’m smiling, but I can’t say anything. I think you’ll be very pleased with some of the releases and upcoming news,” he noted.

With cautious optimism, we can assume that Samsung is considering expanding support for the Galaxy Ring 2 beyond the Android ecosystem. This makes sense, since Apple doesn’t yet have its own smart ring, and Samsung’s entry into its competitor’s ecosystem could be a profitable strategic move in the long run. And if this information proves true, the Galaxy Ring 2 will become one of the few devices from major manufacturers to work across multiple ecosystems.
In an interview with Forbes, he did not reveal any details about the Galaxy Ring 2’s hardware or features, but rumors are circulating nonetheless. According to recent reports, Samsung is working to extend the Galaxy Ring 2’s battery life to approximately 9–10 days. It is also reported that the company aims to make the device thinner and lighter. Among the possible improvements, more accurate heart rate and skin temperature sensors are mentioned, which will provide a more in-depth analysis of health status.
