In the gaming headset market, the mid-range segment has long ceased to be merely a “budget compromise.” Manufacturers in this category aim to combine key features of flagship models with a reasonable price: low-latency wireless connectivity, a quality microphone, convincing sound, and comfort for extended sessions. Today’s users expect more than basic functionality in this class – they look for a balanced experience, where a headset performs well both in intense online matches and in everyday use. Competition is especially strong in this segment, as each model must demonstrate its value not through marketing claims, but through tangible in-game performance and communication quality.

Logitech G325 LIGHTSPEED

Today we’ll examine whether the new Logitech G325 LIGHTSPEED headset meets these elevated expectations and whether it is worth considering for users who want more than just a “decent” gaming headset.

Positioning and price

The Logitech G325 is priced at about  $80 on Amazon and roughly  €80 in Europe. This places it at the intersection of the mid-range and budget segments of the market.

Package Contents

The Logitech G325 comes with a 2.4 GHz USB receiver supporting the proprietary LIGHTSPEED connection for PC, as well as a USB-A to USB-C cable for charging. While the bundle is not extensive, it includes everything necessary for full headset operation.

Personally, I would have appreciated the inclusion of a power adapter for the cable. However, given that headsets like this are typically used near a PC or laptop, finding an available USB port for charging is unlikely to be an issue.

Design and materials

In terms of design, the G325 closely resembles the more affordable G321, which is evident in both its color scheme and overall styling of the chassis.

The headset’s headband is made of plastic and features a soft foam insert covered with fabric on the inner side. The main drawback of the headband in this model is its uneven flexibility – it resists bending or stretching noticeably, yet twists fairly easily. This isn’t necessarily a flaw; it may be an intentional design choice to allow the headset to better conform to the wearer’s head shape.

The earcups are also covered in fabric, which is particularly suitable for use in warm weather – reducing heat and sweat around the head and ears, allowing for longer, uninterrupted sessions.

The left earcup houses the built-in microphone, while the back features an LED indicator, a power switch, a Bluetooth button, and turquoise volume control buttons. At the bottom of the same earcup is a USB-C port for charging.

Particular attention should be given to the earcup attachment mechanism: their position can be adjusted smoothly, without fixed notches. In my view, this is a plus, as sometimes an intermediate position is needed for an ideal fit.

Overall, the headset has an appealing appearance: the white chassis with turquoise accents presents a neat, understated, yet modern look.

Ergonomics

In terms of ergonomics, the headset sits securely on the head and remains comfortable even during extended sessions. All controls are easy to locate by touch and are sufficiently distinct, minimizing the risk of accidentally pressing the wrong button.

Connectivity

The headset can be connected in two ways: to a PC via the 2.4 GHz LIGHTSPEED USB-A adapter, or to virtually any device over Bluetooth. In 2.4 GHz mode, testing revealed no connectivity issues – even if a slight latency exists, it is minimal and barely noticeable.

Using Bluetooth, I connected the headset to a smartphone, and performance was also reliable: the connection remained stable, and while latency is slightly more noticeable than with LIGHTSPEED, it still stays at a low, acceptable level.

Sound Quality

The headset uses 32 mm drivers with a stated frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Overall, the sound is detailed and spacious, without noticeable distortion or muddiness in the mix. The low frequencies are slightly emphasized compared to the highs, but the full spectrum remains clear, and the bass is perceptible and well-defined.

I would also highlight the headset’s accuracy in sound positioning during games. I tested it in Hunt: Showdown 1896, a first-person shooter where the direction and distance of sound are critical for gameplay, and I had no trouble pinpointing both the movement and approximate distance of opponents. Overall, the headset delivers a truly immersive and deep soundstage, not only in games but also when listening to music or watching videos.

Microphone

Overall, the microphone delivers basic voice transmission quality. Speech is clear, but the timbre is somewhat muted and flat – extreme frequencies seem partially rolled off, with the emphasis concentrated in the midrange. Additionally, the microphone is fairly sensitive, picking up background sounds such as mouse clicks or keyboard typing even with Discord’s software noise suppression enabled. The built-in noise-canceling functions work adequately, but they do not significantly improve the overall voice quality.

Software

Like other higher-end Logitech devices, the G325 LIGHTSPEED is supported by the proprietary Logitech G HUB software.

When the headset is first connected and its settings opened in G HUB, a brief guide appears outlining the main functionality and features of the headset.

There are three settings tabs in total: Headset, Microphone, and Sampler:

  • Headset – allows you to adjust the equalizer, save custom profiles, and select from previously saved presets.
  • Microphone – lets you adjust microphone sensitivity and test its sound. This tab also provides access to additional settings, including enabling noise cancellation.
  • Sampler – allows you to configure, preview, or trigger sounds that play directly through the microphone, functioning like a soundboard.

Battery Life

The G325 has a rated battery life of up to 24 hours, which is roughly confirmed in practice. The headset provides advance warnings when the battery is low, minimizing the risk of unexpected shutdowns during important sessions. A full charge takes about 1.5 hours. Overall, the balance between runtime and charging speed is effective – the headset is suitable not only for gaming but also for music or podcasts throughout the workday.
