A new platform and a minimalist interior: What we know about the electric Range Rover GT

Range Rover has released the first images of the all-electric GT – a new, striking grand tourer-class electric vehicle designed for long-distance travel. The company confirmed that the new GT will be “the most technologically advanced Range Rover ever built” and promised that it will redefine the segment.

The electric GT features a significantly lower ride height and a sporty, coupe-style silhouette. According to the brand’s managing director, Martin Limbert, the design is the result of the company having “worked diligently over the past few years on the core principles of the GT formula.”

“The result is the Range Rover that comes closest to a conventional car – yet is undeniably the most powerful Range Rover ever created,” he noted, adding that it will be the first all-electric Range Rover built on Jaguar Land Rover’s new EMA platform.

Range Rover GT

The new EMA platform was originally developed as a specialized architecture for electric vehicles, but JLR recently announced that it also plans to produce new hybrid models based on it. The company also unveiled the interior, which features a surprisingly minimalist design. “The interior of the Range Rover GT is shaped by the same principles of minimalism that define the proportions of its exterior: purity, precision, and understated modernity,” Limbert noted.

Range Rover GT

Now, a single display is located in the center of the cabin, and a compact screen in front of the driver has replaced the traditional instrument panel. The vehicle is completely devoid of physical buttons, although many automakers, including Volkswagen, have recently begun reintroducing them into their latest electric vehicles. Later this year, Range Rover will reveal more details, including battery specifications, and prototypes are already in the final stages of testing.

Range Rover GT

Range Rover’s flagship electric SUV, built on the MLA platform, will use a 118 kWh battery, providing a range of 600 km. The GT is expected to feature a battery with a capacity of over 100 kWh, which, thanks to its streamlined fastback body, could provide a range of nearly 800 km.

The Range Rover GT will be produced at the JLR plant in Gaylewood, United Kingdom. Initially, the model will go on sale exclusively as an electric vehicle, but the company plans to add a full hybrid version later. Production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027, following the launch of the flagship Range Rover Electric and the more compact Sport model.

Prices have not yet been announced, but the Range Rover GT is expected to cost over £75,000 ($100,000) in the UK. In the U.S., the starting price is expected to be around $90,000, and the EPA-rated range will exceed 300 miles on a single charge. For those who prefer the traditional SUV look, the Range Rover Sport EV will go on sale shortly after the flagship model’s launch, offering a more affordable electric alternative.
