Xiaomi rose to fame thanks to its smartphones, but the company is steadily expanding its automotive division. According to Chinese analysts, in the first half of 2026, Xiaomi Auto delivered more than 185,000 electric vehicles, a 17.2% increase compared to the same period last year. To maintain this positive momentum, the company is preparing to enter a new market segment. Documents from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have revealed the key specifications of two large SUVs that will be part of the Sky Nomad series.

There had previously been rumors that Sky Nomad would become a separate sub-brand, but official documents indicate that it is simply a new model lineup under the Xiaomi Auto brand. The company plans to segment its model lineup based on customer needs. Xiaomi’s standard models will be fully electric, while the Sky Nomad series will target family buyers who prioritize comfort and long-distance travel. To that end, the new models will feature an EREV-type powertrain with an extended range.

The first and more compact model in the family lineup will be the Sky Nomad N70. It is a large SUV with a five-seat cabin, measuring 4,960 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,785 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. The front overhang is 950 mm, and the rear overhang is 1,060 mm. Thanks to this design, the approach angle is 18°, and the departure angle is 22°. Depending on the trim level, the vehicle’s weight ranges from 2,453 to 2,610 kg.

The base version of the N70 is equipped with a single electric motor that drives the rear wheels. Its power output is 210 kW, or approximately 282 k.s. The power source is a lithium-iron-phosphate battery with a capacity of 52 kWh, providing an electric range of up to 270 km. When the battery charge drops, a 1.5-liter gasoline engine kicks in, producing 112 kW (150 k.s.) and functioning exclusively as a power generator. With a fully discharged battery, fuel consumption is 5.8 liters per 100 km. The top speed is limited to 190 km/h.

Buyers who need all-wheel drive will be offered the N70 Max version. It features an additional 100 kW electric motor on the front axle, bringing the system’s total power to 310 kW, or 416 k.s. Xiaomi has equipped the N70 Max with a larger 76 kWh battery, which has increased the electric range to 380 km. When the gasoline generator is running, fuel consumption rises to 6.2 liters per 100 km. This variant also features specific exterior elements and a roof-mounted LiDAR for driver-assistance systems.

For those who find the N70 too small, Xiaomi is preparing a larger model – the Sky Nomad N90. It is a full-size SUV measuring 5,285 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,825 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 3,080 mm. The model is equipped with 21-inch wheels of varying widths: 255/45 tires are used in the front, and wider 265/45 tires in the rear.

The N90’s interior will be available in five- and seven-seat configurations. One of the options will be the ability to rotate the front seats 180° so that passengers can sit facing each other while the vehicle is parked. The government regulator has released specifications only for the top-of-the-line Max version. It uses the same powertrain as the N70 Max: a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors with a combined output of 310 kW (416 k.s.). The top speed is electronically limited to 190 km/h.

Due to its larger dimensions and higher weight, the N90 Max is slightly less efficient than the N70 Max. The car uses the same triple battery pack with a capacity of 76 kWh, but the maximum electric range has decreased to 370 km. Once the battery is depleted, the gasoline generator consumes 6.26 liters of fuel per 100 km.

The release of these vehicles could boost Xiaomi Auto’s overall sales. Its electric models are in high demand in cities, but many buyers are still concerned about the availability of charging stations during long trips. With these comfortable SUVs featuring a built-in gasoline generator, Xiaomi hopes to expand its pool of potential buyers.
