Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that pre-orders for GTA VI will begin on June 25 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In its typical style, the studio announced this without any prior notice and, at the same time, unveiled the game’s official cover art.

The studio did not release a new trailer, but many expect that Rockstar might release one right when pre-orders begin. Instead, the company revealed the cover art. It’s designed in the series’ traditional style and features a collection of stylized images of characters, weapons, vehicles, and animals that inhabit the new version of Vice City.

Rockstar Games’ GTA VI is already being called one of the biggest releases in history. Some analysts estimate that the new game could sell up to 46 million copies on its first day of release alone.
GTA VI was officially unveiled on December 4, 2023. The debut trailer immediately set records, becoming the most-viewed non-music video on YouTube within the first 12 hours of its release.
Since then, Rockstar has postponed the game’s release date twice. Initially, the release was pushed back to May 26, 2026, and later to November 19, 2026; the latter date currently remains the scheduled launch date. In February of this year, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the company is still on schedule.

As with previous installments in the series, the game will initially launch on consoles – PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC version has not yet been officially confirmed. However, a release in 2027 or 2028 seems quite likely given Rockstar’s traditional game release pattern.

The game’s events will once again unfold in Vice City, which is now part of the fictional state of Leonida. The new GTA installment will feature two main characters: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Judging by the trailers and materials on the official website, players can expect a satirical reimagining of modern-day Miami and Florida as a whole, complete with social media, crime, and an open world that is significantly larger and more immersive than in the previous installment.
