Last August, the Gemini AI model for creating Nano Banana images caused a loud response. Just a few months later, Google introduced Nano Banana Pro with advanced features and updated tools. And now the tech giant is demonstrating the most advanced model Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image), which combines the advantages of both solutions.
The model integrates Gemini Flash into image generation, and now features that were previously available only in the Pro version are available to a much wider range of users. For example, the new model has a better understanding of the world, as it uses Gemini’s knowledge base, as well as up-to-date data and images from web searches to more accurately recreate specific objects. This allows you to create infographics, turn notes into charts, and generate data visualizations.

Nano Banana 2 also produces clear and correct text, which is important for marketing materials or greeting cards. The model also allows you to translate and localize text within an image.
The new solution provides photorealistic images of high quality. Compared to the first version, Nano Banana has been improved:
- Stability of objects: within one workflow in the Gemini app, you can save the recognizability of up to 5 characters and the detail of up to 14 objects. This allows you to create storyboards and develop the plot without changing the appearance of characters and objects
- Following instructions: the model follows complex instructions more accurately and takes into account the nuances of the request, which allows you to get the result as close as possible to the idea
- Specifications for the final product: users have full control over formats and can choose a resolution from 512px to 4K
- Image quality: improved lighting, texture saturation, and detail.

You can choose the right tool for different tasks: Nano Banana Pro is suitable for maximum accuracy and factual accuracy, and Nano Banana 2 is suitable for creating images quickly, following instructions precisely, and using integrated search.
Nano Banana 2 has already been implemented in a number of Google products. In the Gemini app, it replaces Nano Banana Pro in Fast, Thinking, and Pro modes. Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers can continue to use Nano Banana Pro for specialized tasks. In Search, it is available in AI and Lens modes through the Google app, as well as in mobile and desktop browsers. The feature has been deployed in 141 new countries and territories and supports eight additional languages.

In AI Studio and Gemini API, the model is presented in preview mode and is also available in Google Antigravity. In Cloud, it can be used in preview via the Gemini API in Vertex AI and Gemini CLI. In Flow, Nano Banana 2 becomes the standard image generation model and is available to all users for free. Nano Banana is also integrated into Ads, where it generates suggestions when creating ad campaigns.
At the same time, the tech giant continues to develop a system for confirming the origin of content, focusing on metadata and tamper-resistant watermarks. The combination of SynthID technology with compatible C2PA content credentials allows users to get information about the use of AI and how it is applied.
The effectiveness of these tools has already been proven in practice. Since its launch in November, the SynthID verification feature in the Gemini app has been used more than 20 million times in different languages to recognize images, videos, and audio created by Google’s AI. C2PA verification will also be available in the Gemini app in the near future.
