Nothing has reported that in 2026 it does not plan to release its flagship smartphone Phone (4), but instead prefers to develop the mid-range segment and prepare successors for Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro. Today, the brand has introduced a new series (4a), and like previous Nothing products, the new smartphones show noticeable changes in design and hardware.

Nothing Phone (4a) Pro

The most radical changes affected the Phone (4a) Pro model. In the new version, the company has abandoned the proprietary translucent back panel, which previously created the effect of a partial view of internal components. Instead, the smartphone has a “solid” body available in black, silver, and pink colors.

Along with this, the device received an updated Glyph Matrix interface, which has become larger and brighter compared to the Phone (3) implementation. Nothing emphasizes that the Phone (4a) Pro has become the company’s thinnest smartphone and has received IP65 water protection. It is noted that the use of new materials and design has had a positive impact on the device’s durability and cooling system.

Phone (4a) Pro is equipped with a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a peak brightness of 5000 nits. A 5080 mAh battery is responsible for autonomy, which, according to the manufacturer, is capable of providing up to 17 hours of operation. The novelty has four cameras:

  • 50 megapixel main module
  • 50 megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens
  • 50 megapixel periscopic telephoto lens with a zoom of up to 140x, which is twice the capabilities of the Phone 4a model
  • 32 megapixel front camera.

The company used the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor for it. It is inferior in terms of performance to the top solutions, but it will ensure stable operation of the new AI functions that Nothing is actively implementing in its devices.

Nothing Phone (4a) has also received many updates compared to Phone (3a). In the new generation, the smartphone continues to develop the translucent design characteristic of Nothing. The device will be available in white, pink, black, and blue colors. It also received IP64 protection against dust and water. The updated backlighting system called Glyph Bar is brighter and now looks like a straight line located next to the camera unit. Phone (4a) also has four cameras:

  • 50 megapixel main module capable of capturing 64% more light
  • 50 megapixel ultra-wide-angle module
  • 50 megapixel periscopic telephoto lens that supports 3.5x optical zoom, 7x lossless zoom and up to 70x zoom in Ultra Zoom mode
  • 32 megapixel front camera.

Like the older model, Phone (4a) uses an AMOLED display, but with a diagonal of 6.78″. The refresh rate is 120 Hz, and the peak brightness reaches 4500 nits. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, which is twice as scratch-resistant as the previous generation and is better suited for situations where the smartphone is placed face down. The model is powered by Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and has a 5080 mAh battery.

Both smartphones will ship with Nothing OS 4.1. It includes the Essential Search feature that allows you to search for information in different apps simultaneously. The system also offers personalized results based on stored Memories in the Essential Space service and the Nothing Playground application designed to create custom widgets using AI. Nothing OS 4.1 is based on Android 16. The company guarantees Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro owners three years of Android updates and six years of security patches.

Pre-orders for Phone (4a) start today. The smartphone will be available in several configurations depending on the region and storage capacity. The basic version with 8 or 12 GB of RAM will start at €349, while the 12/256 GB configuration is estimated at €429. The Phone (4a) Pro will also be available globally and will be the only new Nothing smartphone to be officially sold in the United States. Pre-orders will open on March 13. The version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash storage will cost $499, while the 12/256 GB variant is estimated at $599.

Along with the smartphones, the company introduced a new, more affordable alternative to Headphone(1) headphones. The Headphone (a) model has a similar design but comes in four colors, including yellow, pink, white, and black. The manufacturer promises 135 hours of operation on a single charge, adaptive ANC, and the same tactile controls as the more expensive model. Pre-orders are already open, and deliveries will begin on March 13 (except for the yellow version, which will be available in April). The headphones will cost from $200.
