OPPO is preparing to launch its new Pad 6 tablet. It boasts a 10420 mAh battery that is packed into a body that is only 5.99 mm thick. The device will make its debut on May 25, and it will be one of the thinnest 12-inch tablets with such a large battery, which will debut in 2026.

OPPO Pad 6 uses an LCD display instead of OLED, a deliberate product segmentation decision that clearly separates the model from the Pad 5 Pro with OLED screen, which is located higher in the lineup. But with a 12.1″ diagonal and 3K resolution, the pixel density remains high, and the adaptive refresh rate of up to 144 Hz ensures smooth scrolling of content and comfortable gaming.

The soft light designation in OPPO’s marketing materials means that the display has settings to reduce blue light and flicker. This is a useful feature that will appeal to those who like to read e-books on their tablets. An LCD panel with this resolution and refresh rate is still a good solution for most users. Those who need the color depth and contrast of OLED can choose the Pad 5 Pro. And those who want a larger screen, longer battery life, and a thinner body will get the Pad 6.
Dimensity 9500s is not a simplified version of the full-fledged Dimensity 9500 in the sense that the naming system sometimes suggests. The Dimensity 9500s is optimized for power efficiency, offering lower clock speeds than the standard 9500, but delivering 25-30% better power efficiency in long gaming scenarios.

For a tablet that will be used primarily for multimedia consumption, document editing, and simple gaming, this compromise seems to be well worth it. The 10420 mAh battery in combination with an energy-efficient chip should provide exceptional autonomy in real-world conditions – potentially, the device can last two full days with moderate use. In addition, it will have up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of flash memory.

The 12.1-inch Pad 6 falls between the compact OPPO Pad Mini and the premium Pad 5 Pro in the company’s lineup. At 5.99 mm thick, it’s thinner than the Apple iPad Air M3 and similar in size to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE, despite the much larger battery. The official price has not yet been confirmed, but given its positioning against the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Samsung Tab S10 FE in the mid-premium segment, OPPO will have to set the price below $590 to convincingly justify the model’s profitability.
