As someone without a personal vacuum but with an apartment where the floors collect dust faster than expected, cleaning is a constant necessity. That’s why reviews of devices like the Dreame R20 Ultra AquaCycle are particularly relevant to me.

Market position
This model is noticeably more affordable than the one I reviewed previously, though it still doesn’t fall into the budget category, with a price of nearly $500. Within the R20 series, however, the AquaCycle stands as the flagship option.

The lineup also includes the standard R20, the R20 Aqua, and the R20 Ultra. The differences come down to suction power, the number of included attachments, and compatibility with the wet cleaning module. Interestingly, the package with six attachments plus the wet cleaning module is priced almost the same as the higher-power base kit.
Package contents
It’s a bit disappointing that the most expensive version, the R20 Ultra AquaCycle, comes with only five attachments instead of the full set of six. That said, the overall package is well thought out. I especially liked the way it’s packed: unlike my previous vacuum (not from Dreame), which was stored vertically and awkward to unpack, this one comes in a box that opens from the side, making everything easier to access.

The package includes the vacuum unit, a main brush, three additional attachments, a storage base, and a power adapter.

Unlike its predecessor, the base doesn’t serve as a charging dock – the power adapter is separate.

The attachments include a turbo brush for wet cleaning, a general-purpose turbo brush, and a turbo brush designed to handle pet hair and fine dust. There’s also a soft brush specifically for cleaning furniture, along with a combination crevice tool that has a fixed brush at the tip. All of these, together with the extension tube, can be stored directly on the stand rather than in the box.

External appearance
The Dreame R20 Ultra AquaCycle has a clean, modern design, featuring several transparent and glossy elements.

The battery module, which appears to have a capacity of nearly 80 Wh, is prominently located under the handle. The display, positioned above the handle, also stands out and adds to the overall design.

Looking at the specifications, the main unit of the Dreame R20 Ultra AquaCycle weighs 2.2 kg, and with attachments, the total can reach up to 4 kg. In the standard setup – with the module, extension tube, and main brush – the dimensions are 128.8 × 32.0 × 32.0 cm.

The motor delivers 200 W of power, with a suction force of 27 kPa. Filtration is five-stage and includes HEPA filters. The dustbin holds 600 ml. Runtime reaches up to 90 minutes on a full charge, or about 40 minutes when using the floor-washing attachment. A full charge takes approximately four hours.

The vacuum is rated at up to 85 dB, which isn’t particularly quiet and is closer to a standard, non-premium vacuum in terms of noise. It offers three operating modes – Auto, Turbo, and Eco – each with different noise levels, which are reflected on the display.

Operating experience
The vacuum can also automatically detect filter clogs and various errors, such as a jammed roller, overheating, or blocked airflow. One notable feature is the LED light on the dry-cleaning turbo brush module, which has a 140-degree illumination angle and a beam reaching up to 30 cm. This brush can be used on multiple surfaces, including carpets, not just hard floors.

The wet-cleaning turbo brush works similarly to dedicated floor-washing vacuums, both in design and cleaning performance. However, as far as I know, it doesn’t support any cleaning solutions – only plain water. After each use, the tray needs to be emptied and washed, and the brush must be rinsed and allowed to dry.

This versatility makes up for some of its limitations. By removing the extension tube, the Dreame R20 Ultra AquaCycle can easily clean a bed, sofa, or reach cobwebs in corners. The vacuum itself is lightweight and ergonomically designed, though it can be quite loud in Turbo mode.
Drawbacks
There are two minor points to note. The first isn’t so much a flaw as an obvious observation: the vacuum is primarily designed for dry cleaning, and the wet-cleaning mode feels more like a supplementary feature.

The aspect I liked least was the way the manual is presented. For instance, the dry-cleaning turbo brush has a switch. The manual states that it should be turned on for vacuuming carpets and larger spilled items, such as coffee beans or popcorn, and turned off in all other cases.

There’s one issue: neither the switch itself nor the manual indicates which position is “plus” and which is “minus.” I would have appreciated a detailed video guide on the manufacturer’s website, but none is available.
Conclusions
The Dreame R20 Ultra AquaCycle is expensive enough that it isn’t a universal recommendation. Still, it’s versatile and capable enough to be worth considering for anyone with a budget that allows for it.

It handles dry cleaning very effectively, whether on deep surfaces, shallow areas, crevices, or corners. The wet-cleaning function works reasonably well with just water, though stubborn stains may still require manual scrubbing – something common even with much more expensive floor-washing vacuums. Overall, it performs reliably and is easy to recommend.
