Tesla has unveiled the spring 2026 software update, which has become the most feature-rich of all the company’s seasonal releases. It includes twelve separate changes covering various aspects of car operation, from fully autonomous driving and voice artificial intelligence to safety lighting solutions, dashcam functions, and pet mode settings.

A key element for owners of cars with AI4 hardware platform is the updated autonomous driving management program. The interface has undergone major changes: now you can subscribe to Full Self-Driving with one touch, and view real-time statistics on the use of this function directly on the car screen.

Grok’ s voice assistant has received the biggest update since its launch in cars. The system now supports activation with the phrase Hey Grok, which allows you to interact without touching the screen. In addition, location-based reminders have been added: the driver can, for example, ask for a reminder to buy groceries upon returning home. Grok first appeared in cars in July 2025, and with each update, its functionality is gradually approaching everyday use. During a speech in Davos in January, Elon Musk emphasized the general direction of development, noting that Tesla is actively moving towards a future based on autonomy.

In the field of safety, advanced blind spot monitoring indicators have been introduced, which are integrated into the interior ambient lighting system. This solution builds on the door opening warning feature that was added in the 2026.8 update.
The Dog Mode has been renamed Pet Mode and has expanded personalization options. Users can now select an animal icon – dog, cat or hedgehog – and add a pet name to be displayed on the display.

The functionality of the video recorder has also been expanded: now recordings are stored for up to 24 hours instead of the previous one-hour cyclic buffer. In addition, it is now possible to permanently save individual fragments. Weather maps have also been updated: they now show rain and snow more clearly thanks to improved color differentiation, as well as show precipitation data for the last hour on the route.
The company has formed a clear model for releasing major updates, which are now released twice a year via OTA. This approach began to take shape in 2025, when the spring update brought adaptive headlights and new trunk customization options, and the holiday update integrated Grok into cars for the first time. The current release follows the same logic: the winter pack lays the foundation for new features, and the spring pack expands their availability.

Despite the scale of the update, two features have not yet appeared. IFTTT automations, which were previously available in China, were not included in the North American version for unknown reasons. Apple CarPlay support is also still missing, reportedly due to compatibility with iOS 26 and Apple Maps.
