Apple launched the Apple Card in the U.S. back in August 2019, and the product offered deep integration with Apple Wallet and the Daily Cash rewards program. About seven years have passed, and Samsung has also entered the branded credit card market – one day before the Galaxy Unpacked event, the South Korean tech giant unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Card.

The Galaxy Card is issued by Barclays US Consumer Bank and operates on the Visa payment network. Users with early access can apply for the card right now, while applications will open to the general public tomorrow, July 22, 2026. New cardholders can earn a $200 bonus in the form of a cash reward after spending $2,000 within the first 90 days of opening their account.

Galaxy Card users are promised various cash rewards options:

  • 5% on eligible purchases made directly through Samsung
  • 3% on purchases paid for via Samsung Wallet
  • 2% for streaming service payments, including Netflix, Disney+, and Spotify
  • 1% on all other purchases
  • 20% off a Samsung VIP Advantage membership, plus 5% cashback when you purchase or renew it.

“For years, users have relied on Samsung products to enhance their daily life – from staying connected with friends, to relaxation, to productivity. Today, Samsung Galaxy Card offers users a new way to be rewarded every time you pay,” said Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of the Digital Wallet Team at the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “Users are busy, they need a credit card that simplifies their life and offers them real value – Samsung Galaxy Card does both.”

The Galaxy Card will be available in both virtual and physical formats, and it will be a distinctly premium metal card featuring the company’s black logo. Cardholders will be able to add it to Samsung Wallet along with other payment cards, documents, passes, and digital keys.

Clearly, the card is primarily aimed at those already within the tech giant’s ecosystem, encouraging them to purchase more devices and services directly from the company. In addition, the 5% cashback on purchases at Samsung exceeds the 3% Daily Cash that the Apple Card offers for purchases made directly from Apple.

“Partnering with Samsung is a strong example of Barclays partner-first strategy and the innovation we’re bringing to the market with some of the world’s most recognized brands,” said Denny Nealon, CEO of Barclays US Consumer Bank. “Together, we’re creating seamless, rewarding digital banking capabilities and products that meet customers where they are – in their Samsung Wallet – and fit naturally into how they live, shop, and connect.”

However, the company decided to enter this market rather late; Apple has a head start of several years, during which it has integrated the Apple Card into its own ecosystem of devices and services. However, higher rewards for purchases made with Samsung and broader support from the Visa payment network could make the Galaxy Card attractive to users who already use products from the South Korean tech giant.
