Modern hardware manufacturers seem to have a particular talent for creating inconvenient situations each year. Just as you get used to the idea that “a flagship is always expensive, demanding, and not for everyone,” a new sub-flagship appears, quietly suggesting: “Perhaps it’s not quite like that.”

The device in question is the Xiaomi 15T Pro – a smartphone priced firmly in the sub-flagship segment, yet its specifications align more closely with what would traditionally be considered a high-end flagship. It features a Leica-branded camera, a recent MediaTek chipset, a 144 Hz AMOLED display, wireless charging, and IP68 protection – essentially most of the features that until recently were labeled “ultra-premium.” In 2026, manufacturers increasingly aim to offer as much as possible at a lower price, cutting costs in ways that most users may not immediately notice.
The question remains: has the 15T Pro managed to approach flagship-level performance without the typical compromises? This review will examine that in detail.

Positioning and Price
The Xiaomi 15T Pro occupies the sub-flagship segment, offering most flagship-level features without the corresponding premium price. The model starts at approximately $711 / €605 for the 12/256 GB version and reaches around $830 / €706 for the 1 TB configuration, which aligns with the intended market segment.

Xiaomi 15T Pro Package contents
The device comes in a white box with a minimalist design and Xiaomi and Leica logos. Inside you will find:
- Smartphone
- Cable
- Silicone case
- SIM card removal tool
- Documentation

The display comes with a pre-applied protective film, but its quality is noticeably average. It is recommended to either replace it immediately or remove it altogether.
The package does not include a power adapter, which has become increasingly common, though it is still somewhat surprising for a sub-flagship priced around $710. Manufacturers cite environmental reasons, leaving users to purchase a 90 W charger separately.
Design, Ergonomics, and Build Quality
Xiaomi has long been able to produce devices that appear more premium than their segment, and the 15T Pro is no exception. The smartphone looks and feels high-end, with no out-of-place design elements or experimental shapes – the focus is on simplicity and clean styling.

The body is relatively thin at 7.96 mm and is made of fiberglass, which Xiaomi claims offers better drop resistance compared to standard glass. The frame is constructed from 6M13 aluminum alloy with a stiffness of 330 N/mm.
The device feels “heavy,” but it is well-balanced and does not tip forward, as can happen with smartphones that have large camera modules. It sits securely in the hand, though it can be slightly slippery without a case – an issue mitigated by the included accessory.
The camera module is large, occupying a significant portion of the rear surface and protruding noticeably, but it maintains a neat appearance. It houses three Leica lenses, a color spectrum sensor, and an infrared transmitter.

The review unit is in black. The matte finish feels pleasant to the touch and collects fingerprints, but less so than glossy glass. Gray and gold color options are also available. The gold version is particularly interesting, as it can appear either gold or bronze depending on the lighting.
The layout of elements is thoughtful and familiar. The right edge houses the power and volume buttons, while the bottom contains the SIM card slot, USB-C port, microphone, and a single speaker.
The second speaker is located at the top of the frame – barely noticeable at first glance, but fully functional. The front-facing camera is a small cutout centered at the top of the display, unobtrusive and not interfering with content consumption.
The Xiaomi 15T Pro carries an IP68 rating, allowing immersion in water up to 3 meters deep (compared to 1.5 meters on its predecessor). This means the smartphone can withstand rain, splashes, or accidental submersion, though it is not intended for deliberate diving.
Overall, the Xiaomi 15T Pro makes a very pleasant impression.

Xiaomi 15T Pro Display
The display deserves particular attention. It is a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2772×1280 pixels (447 ppi), a 144 Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of 3200 nits, support for 68 billion colors, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. But what does this mean in practical terms?

In practical use, the screen is bright even under direct sunlight, with smooth motion and vivid colors. The smartphone is comfortable to use in a variety of lighting conditions.

The bezels around the display are thin and uniform, measuring just 1.5 mm, achieved through LIPO technology. The usable screen area is 94.5%.
The fingerprint sensor is optical and located under the display. It operates quickly and reliably, showing little sensitivity to finger placement.

The 15T Pro display also features 16,000-level automatic brightness, flicker reduction, adaptive color adjustment, a reading mode, and three TÜV Rheinland certifications.
Performance
The Xiaomi 15T Pro is powered by the 8-core MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chip. This 3 nm flagship processor features a configuration with a single Cortex-X925 core clocked up to 3.63 GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores up to 3.3 GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores up to 2.4 GHz. Graphics are handled by the Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU.

In everyday tasks, the smartphone performs with a noticeable margin. Applications launch almost instantly, animations are smooth, and task switching is seamless. Users upgrading from mid-range devices will likely notice a significant difference.

The 12 GB of RAM (with support for virtual expansion) is more than sufficient. Multiple demanding apps, a photo editor, and a browser with numerous tabs can remain open simultaneously without any noticeable drop in performance or speed.
For those interested in raw numbers, benchmark scores in popular tests are provided below:
- AnTuTu: 2683380 (v10)
- GeekBench: 7914 (v6)
- 3DMark: 5887 (Wild Life Extreme)
Wireless Connectivity
This is an area where the device shows clear capability. Support for Wi-Fi 7 provides future-proofing, Bluetooth 6.0 operates reliably with multiple devices, and NFC handles contactless payments correctly. An added bonus is the infrared port, which allows the smartphone to function as a universal remote. Navigation systems include GPS, Dual GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo.

Software
The Xiaomi 15T Pro runs on Android 15 with the HyperOS 2.2 skin. The interface offers extensive customization options and smooth animations. Compared to previous versions, the skin feels lighter and more intuitive.
Users can flexibly customize home screens, icons, the Always-On Display, gesture controls, power-saving modes, and privacy settings. Advanced multitasking tools are also available, including floating windows, split-screen mode, and quick-launch of apps in small windows over the main interface.
The device comes with a number of pre-installed applications, but they can either be uninstalled or, at minimum, disabled.
Unlock Methods
There are two primary methods for unlocking the device: the fingerprint scanner and facial recognition. As noted earlier, the fingerprint scanner is optical and located under the display, functioning reliably.
Facial recognition works almost instantly in good lighting, takes slightly longer in low light, but still without significant delays. In complete darkness, the system uses screen illumination to detect the face. Overall, both methods operate without noticeable issues.
Xiaomi 15T Pro Camera
Moving on to one of the most notable aspects – the 15T Pro’s camera system. It features a triple-camera setup: a 50 MP Light Fusion 900 main sensor measuring 1/1.31″ with Leica Summilux optics, a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultra-wide lens with a 120° field of view. The front-facing camera has a 32 MP resolution and supports 4K video recording.

The camera interface is familiar to Xiaomi users but includes Leica-specific accents. There are two primary shooting profiles: Leica Vibrant and Leica Authentic. Leica Vibrant produces brighter, higher-contrast images suited for social media, while Leica Authentic offers a more subdued look, closer to traditional film photography.
In daylight, the main camera modules perform very well. Images are detailed, with a wide dynamic range and natural, pleasing color reproduction. Building textures, material surfaces, and fine details remain sharp without noticeable blur.
Evening photos maintain good quality, though occasional noise can appear and colors may shift toward warmer tones. Detail levels remain high.
Zoom. The 15T Pro features 5x optical zoom with a 115 mm focal length and optical image stabilization. At 5x magnification, image quality remains strong, allowing clear observation of building facades, distant objects, or interior details.
The optimal zoom approach is to use the native values of 1x, 2x (cropped from the main sensor), and 5x. At intermediate levels, digital zoom is applied, which can affect fine detail.
Original photos are available at this link
The Xiaomi 15T Pro records video reliably. The main sensor supports up to 8K at 30 fps and 4K at 120 fps, the telephoto lens up to 4K at 60 fps, and the ultra-wide lens up to 4K at 30 fps. Sample footage is provided below:
The 32 MP front-facing camera represents a solid mid-tier flagship option. Daytime photos are sharp, and portrait mode effectively separates the subject from the background.
Overall, the camera system is one of the main reasons to consider the Xiaomi 15T Pro.
Audio
The Xiaomi 15T Pro features a stereo speaker system with Dolby Atmos support. Volume levels are adequate, with clear vocals and preserved detail even at maximum output.
Low frequencies are present but limited, as is typical for smartphones – this is not a portable speaker. However, the speakers are sufficient for movies, YouTube, social media, and casual music playback. Using wireless headphones improves the experience, and with Hi-Res Wireless support, audio quality can be notably better.
Battery Life
The 5500 mAh battery, combined with optimized hardware, provides solid endurance. Under typical mixed usage – including several hours of messaging, social media, camera use, video playback, and calls – the smartphone easily lasts through the day with some reserve. With lighter use, one can expect roughly one and a half to two days of operation without charging.
Screen-on time ranges between 7–8 hours, depending on how heavily the high refresh rate and display brightness are used. For a large, high-performance smartphone, this is a respectable result.
The 90 W fast charger can fully recharge the battery in approximately one hour. Wireless charging at 50 W is also efficient and keeps pace with wired charging.
Conclusions
The Xiaomi 15T Pro navigates the line between a sub-flagship and a full-fledged flagship. For its price, it offers a flagship-grade processor, a capable main camera with a periscope lens, a modern AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate, IP68 water and dust resistance, support for fast wired and wireless charging, and respectable battery life.

There are compromises, but they are minor. The ultra-wide lens is less capable than the main sensor, there is no LTPO display, and a microSD slot is absent. However, these factors do not detract from the overall impression – serving more as a reminder that this is a strong sub-flagship rather than an expensive “ultra-flagship.”

The Xiaomi 15T Pro is a smartphone for users seeking flagship-level experiences in camera performance, processing power, display quality, and battery life, without paying full price for top-tier models. In this segment, it presents a very compelling option.

Where to buy Xiaomi 15T Pro

I’ve had this device for 2 weeks now and agree with the opinions of the m this article. The phone is exceptional in everyday use and a breath of from air as I own a iPhone 16pro, Pixel 8pro, and S22 Ultra. It’s easily my favorite of the other three phones and has less cons for my use purposes. Shots from the 5x telephoto are mind-blowing. Also the 90w charging is much faster than 1hr as listed in the article.
